The Adventures Of Tom Sawyer

2014

The Advenures of Tom Sawyer
By Laura Eason
Adapted from the novel by Mark Twain

Directed by Chris Kelly

Performed by Brandon Barry, Joseph Donohue III,
Renee Landrigan, John Kaczorowski, Kevin Craig,
Jose Rivera, Wendy Hall, Betsy Bittar,
Anthony Alcocer, and Eric Rawski.

The New Phoenix offers an alternative production to the traditional holiday fare with THE ADVENTURES OF TOM SAWYER. Chris Kelly directs this imaginative, physical, and inventive piece that will offer a transportive experience for the whole family this holiday season.

Brandon Barry and Joseph Donohue III of the local award winning band, The Albrights lead the Buffalo ensemble cast as Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn, respectively. Together the two, along with Becky Thatcher (Renee Landrigan), take us on a great holiday adventure. The musical soundscape of the show will be performed live by ensemble members John Kaczorowski, Renee Landrigan, Kevin Craig and Joseph Donohue III.

Completing the ensemble cast is Jose Rivera as Sid Sawyer, Wendy Hall as Aunt Polly, Betsy Bittar as Widow Douglass, Anthony Alcocer as Injun Joe, and Eric Rawski as Muff Potter. The actors each play a number of characters and help manipulate the space, creating each new environment and atmosphere.

The New Phoenix is thrilled that Chris Kelly will be guiding this highly physical show with the audience always a few feet away from the action.

The creative team consists of Scenic and Lighting designer Chris Cavanagh and Costume Designer Loraine O’Donnell. Joseph Donohue III also serves as the musical director.
